CNY 2009 Recap

Harlow people. Gong Xi Fa Chai. This year got Fa Chai or not? I bet not. This year economy not too good. Retrenchment here and there. But who cares right :D Recession also still must continue to blog!

Anyway, super hectic week for me. Just got back from holidays and I was flooded with nonsensical work. What the cow.

Talking about cows, CNY this year is kinda quiet. We had a family reunion dinner in Malacca at my grandma's place. Food is good as usual on new year's eve but that's about it. No fireworks, no special TV programmes, no gambling. I spent most of the time in Malacca playing with my aunt's Shih Tzus and easily defeating my brother in Star Wars: Force Unleashed light saber duels. Boring.

C.J. - Cute and hyperactive puppy

J.J. - Blur case Shih Tzu with a mop.. No, that's the tail.

On the 3rd day of CNY, we went back to Segamat. That night, I attended a small gathering with my high school friends in a coffeeshop. As we talked about the old times, I suddenly realized that it's the 10th year now since we left high school. Cow, we're now like friggin old ah peks hanging around in coffeeshops. Who cares.

Steamboat dinner @ Segamat Resort

On the 5th day, Sally took a train over to Segamat. LOL. I'm so proud of her for coming all the way here, all alone. But I was indeed excited. I mean, why not? The previous day when I was napping in the afternoon, I dreamed that Sally had arrived at the train station before Segamat. In the dream, she SMS to inform me that she'll be arriving soon. The dream was so vivid that I jumped up from the bed, with eyes half-opened, almost rushing out to fetch her! Nabeh, just a dream. Have to wait another day :P

But having Sally around is fun. More laughter. More chili.

Sally and Freaker

Hehe

Although this isn't Sally's first Segamat trip, it was the first time we actually took a stroll in a nearby park. We used to just hang around at home. But this time we realized that we need abit of exercise :P Can't afford to be lazy anymore. The fats are all accumulating :P So yeah, here are some photos that I took along the way.

Segamat Resort Park

A small lake, no crocodiles

Jogging track, though it looks just like any regular road

One more interesting stuff that I noticed is, whenever Sally comes to Segamat, my mom would show her photos of my younger years. Like when I was around 2 years old or so. Yeah, maybe because I look cuter back then, and I look more like a monkey now :P Since Sally loves the photos so much, I'll just post some of it here!

Not sure what I was drinking, but definitely not Tiger beer

With my mom

With my twin bro

My career aspiration then, was of course, to be a policeman

Salute! You may call me Inspector Freaker

Again, with my twin bro

Cute? To be frank, I don't remember anything about the photos. But I'm sure back then, I was a care-free kid running around happily without the slightest worry about recessions and weird colleagues. And when I wanted something, I just need to cry loudly and I'll get it.

Well, those were the days!

'Ji' cuteeeeeeee! Never tired looking at your baby photos! Hahaha! You are so easily recognisable!

Never knew u wanted to be a policeman?! To think that u r a developer now. Keke. Guess a span of 20 odd years can really change a person's ambition. Haha!

Somehow Segamat seems a little different now. Perhaps its the little exploration we had. Segamat has more shops than I imagined! Haha! I find the walk in the park peaceful and the lake serene. Niceee.. I would say its a good break from our hectic worklife :)

The nice food (wow! yum yum!) and hangouts with your family are pretty memorable to me. Definitely a very different CNY I had this year. :)

Well, yeah the recession is prob not leaving anytime soon... In any case, do hope all readers have a Happy Ox/Bull/Cow (whichever category you are) Year! Stay positive and upbeat! :D
